The Movie:
One of countless films made for Alpha France by director Claude Bernard-Aubert under his nomme de porn Burd Tranbaree, 1980's Country Orgies (or Parties Carrees Campagnardes en Francais!) was actually released stateside under the alternate title of Weekend Tail. At just over sixty minutes in length, it's on the short side of feature length to be sure, but it's an amusing enough XXX romp that finds American starlet Serene moonlighting in the French smut business (she starred in Nymphomaniacs for Bernard-Aubert that same year).
The plot is pretty thin here but essentially what happens in this quickie is that, after an opening credits sequence showing off a serene rural country setting set to some soothing piano music, a French fisherman chases a lady through the woods. He catches up to her and they head into their simple country home and fool around a bit but it turns out that the lady of the house isn't having any of it (she yells at them from off camera). The young man's name is Francois and eventually the lady, a foxy dark haired lady, relents and gives the young lass, who we learn is named Janet and is employed as the house servant, permission to go down on him.
Their screw is interrupted by the arrival of a bearded guy dressed like one of the Bee-Gee's accompanied by a blonde with short, cropped hair (Serena). The inhabitants of the house, including the mom, come out to greet their guests. Barry Gibb tells Janet she's got a beautiful ass and she doesn't believe him until she checks it out herself in his car mirror. They chat for a bit and once they're alone, Janet gives the bearded Bee-Gee a blowjob. While they get it on, Serena is getting to know the lady of the house in the most intimate of ways, first in the bedroom and then in the shower. Francois catches some fish and tosses them down one of the ladies' dress, but that doesn't go over well. Go figure. Night comes and Serena screws the Barry Gibb guy while Francois sneaks into Janet's chamber and they go at it too.
The next morning at 5am sharp, the two guys go fishing together. They split up and decide to meet up a few hours later. Francois takes this opportunity to head back to the house and bone Serena while her hubby is still fishing. In the other room, Janet and the dark haired lady are having lesbian sex which leads into a group session between the couples involving everyone but Janet… who wanders off and finds Barry Gibb to give him some sweet loving of his own out there in the woods. Once they finish up they head back and everyone enjoys some freshly caught fish before finishing the movie off with the orgy you all knew was coming.
So yeah, not much of a plot, the story really just serves to bridge the sex scenes together, but this is fun French smut. Serena is in fine form here and will no doubt be the main attraction for most viewers, but the other two ladies featured in the film are both quite attractive as well. Everything has a breezy, free-spirited feel to it that makes it fun to watch and all involved seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves, a quality that tends to make dirty movies more enjoyable for a lot of us.
Production values are good, but unlike most Alpha France titles the action takes place not in gay Paris but out in the middle of nowhere. The old country cabin seems authentic enough and the woods and stream featured in various scenes are picturesque enough so that even if the movie doesn't feature any truly striking cinematography, everything is pleasing to the eye. This isn't complex film, but it does what it does well.
Video/Audio/Extras:
Country Orgies arrives on MOD/DVD-R in 1.85.1 non-anamorphic widescreen, which would appear to be the movie's original aspect ratio. The image is a little soft but stable enough though there are times where the blacks get muddy and contrast blooms. Colors look okay even if they do occasionally look shift a bit. There is a bit of visible print damage here and there and there are some minor compression artifacts throughout the presentation as well. This is perfectly watchable, but not a particularly remarkable transfer.
The disc includes an English language Dolby Digital Mono track as well as a French language option but no subtitles to accompany it. The dialogue is pretty muffled on the English track and there are times where it is hard to understand, so be prepared to adjust the volume up and down throughout the movie. Some minor hiss creeps into the mix at times as well.
No extras on the disc at all.
The Final Word:
Country Orgies doesn't reinvent the wheel but it's a fun watch for sure. The real draw here is Serena and she's featured prominently in a few scenes and delivers fine work as well. A masterpiece it may not be but this is perfectly enjoyable light hearted hardcore.
