Unknown to Red Sonja, the brother of the powerful wizard Kalas-Ra she recently dispatched (the one who cursed her) has come to town looking for the red devil. Appearance-wise, he looks like he'll be a bit more of a challenge for her once they meet. For now, he just lets everyone in town know how badly he can hurt them without much thought or care.
The curse on Red is starting to eat its way into her brain at a rapid pace, making her a very, very dangerous creature. This is not good news for the man she spotted in the tavern last issue, a man from her past and one she has been watching out for since the days of her childhood. With the pretty boy Havan at her heels, still thinking of her as his apprentice, she stops for the night and bends his ear with back story pertaining to her prey before she succumbs to her ferocious sexual appetite.
The guy she's tracking, Fellan, did her wrong a long time ago and the brief meeting between the two results flying arrows and slashing swords. As it would happen, Fellan is still a piece of shit albeit a smarter piece of shit as he hired some duds to do his dirty work for her. His “feet don't fail me now†exit leaves his sell swords to do his dirty work and that gives Red Sonja a great opportunity to get out some of that pent up anger. At the same time it gives that curse a great opportunity to rot her soul faster.
An awesome issue, one of the best so far in this latest run from Dynamic, and if this storyline continues the way it's going this is destined to be a great first half of the year for Sonja fans. Simone just keeps going with making this character better than she ever was, and Walter Geovani makes Sonja sexy at every frigging turn. Sexy with a bow; sexy in the rain; sexy when she's pissed; sexy when her face is splattered with the blood of her enemies. And speaking of sexy…that Jenny Frison cover? Sexy.
