The final chapter of this "The Way Back" story arc sees the same creative team of last issue returning with excellent results.

This one is pretty fast paced affair with private investigator Chambers once more getting back to that critical point in time where believes he can rescue activist/US Marine John Black. There's no fat on the bone in this issue - writer Straczynski is working on a nicely terse level. The dialog has a natural conversational feel and the plot moves smoothly. The conclusion is both satisfying and logical.

If you've been reading my previous reviews of this series there really isn't much to add regarding the work of artist Guiu Vilanova, colorist Vinicus Andrade and letterer Rob Steen. These guys work well together and have a unified creative vision. The park scenes in particular stand out strongly with a powerful visual aesthetic. These panels have an ominous beauty perfectly suited to the story.

A real note of congratulation to J. Michael Straczynski is due here. He (and his creative team) have done a wonderful job on this series. In addition to creating a cracking good story with some genuine emotional weight, Straczynski has managed a lovely tribute to original Twilight Zone creator Rod Serling. His final closing narration of this issue is pitch perfect. If you close your eyes you can see Rod in his sober dark suit delivering every word in that distinctive clipped tone of his. Rod's legacy is secure as long as talents of this calibre are at the creative table.

    Very highly recommended.
