So now The Kabal has two of the three Accursed under lock and key, and it's time to round up the third and final Accursed and put a stop to the spread of the so-called “black rabies”. Cain, the original murderer, and son of Adam and Eve, has spent his eternity perfecting his farming skills and being the greatest living human at the art of raising perfect produce. Keep telling yourself that, Cain; sounds a lot better than “brother-killer” one can imagine. At any rate, his mode of delivery of the virus leads Vampirella and wolf-boytoy Tristan right to Cain. And guess who feels the trip to be important enough to leave her couch? The sexy nerd-witch Evily. That chick is up to something.

They arrive in the small town where Cain has been living and right in the middle of people murdering one another due to Cain's handy work. The three must fight off the infected lunatics without killing them, and Evily's got the ability to remove the infection from the victims. A little black barf and poof! Instant remorse for all they'd done. And when all is said and done, Vampirella bumps into someone she didn't expect which could put her into a serious tail spin.

Part four in the tale ends with a wicked cliffhanger that gives those of us in the snow covered part of North America something else to look forward to in April. Nancy Collins' latest entry into the world of Vampirella could well be major part of the character's origin, depending on how things pan out. And she gives the readers a brief history lesson on Vampi's roots to refresh the longtime readers and to give cliff notes to the new comers, which should be appreciated. The book starts off with a great segment that tells the story of Cain while showing him puttering along at his farm, getting infected tomatoes ready for market and its moments like that puts Collins on the top shelf for Vampi story tellers.

Berkenkotter 's artwork continues to a great justice to the character and he has a great way of keeping the reader scouring his panels. Whether it's Cain squirting cow's milk from the teat and into a kitty cat's mouth, or Madame Evily showing some sexy leg when she kneels down, most of his pages are packed with enough detail to be impactful, but not so much as to be too busy. And again Mike Meyhew paints another good one, with its theme being very much to do with this issue. If Eve looked like, it would be easy to understand why Adam took a bite of that frigging apple. From cover to cover, this latest installment in the “Accursed” story makes for a comic book worth every penny plunked down to buy it.
