After doing something really, really bad to herself, Sonja and her lapdog Havan the firemaker make haste back to the village that they were kicked out of, looking for help for the injured lady. They are not met with the nicest reception, but the innkeep she beat nearly to death is surprisingly among her supporters and shelter and care is provided for them.
And then there's the pesky Katharas-Ra, still after his vengeance and who is at the front door of the inn calling Red Sonja out. It's time to finish this thing. Despite Sonja's hallucinations and breaking through what must be an extraordinarily painful and unbearable injury, she meets the challenge. As she says, it's time to use her wits instead of her blade and she cooks up an-the-spot plan to fight this ugly wizard, but it may well be a moot point for her when all boils down in the end. Yeah, she may have broken through that curse she was under, but the other side of it doesn't look better.
Nice work from Walter Giovanni with the monsters that fill this issue, which includes rotten corpses and giant snake-dragon beasts. And aside from that, he's also depicted some wounds that might cause for a cringe or two. Those mitts he draws (you'll know when you see it) are absolutely grotesque and really effective in getting pain to scream off the page. Simone's script simply kicks butt and this chapter is pretty intense. A lot goes down and the chapter cliff-hangs in such a way that leaves the reader really wanting to see how this all ends.Posting comments is disabled.
