Classhole hail from New Orleans and are made up of Matt Muscle on vocals, Eye Hate God's Gary Mader on guitar, Grant Tom on bass and Paul Webb on drums. This self titled album, comprised of fifteen songs, is their first and it's basically a half hour of pure, unadulterated anger.

Bloodshot opens the album off, seventy-six seconds of fairly traditional hardcore played fast, angry and mean with a slick riff keeping things moving along at a steady clip. Breathing Down My Neck runs five seconds shorter than the opener but it's just as nasty sounding, maybe more so as it's faster and Muscle's vocals are a bit more unhinged and snotty sounding. Shut You Down doesn't break from what the first two tracks lay down, it's got the same sort of attitude and it's a relentless minute and a half with a great breakdown in the middle part.

Things change up a bit with Whole Lot Of Nothing, the longest track on the record at three and a half minutes long. It's not as fast, it's got a much more solid groove to it, but it's still tight, aggressive and reasonably nuts. Gunned Down gets things back into speedcore territory, the guitar work from Mader really shining here not just in its speed but in its technical proficiency as well - this band is tighter than your little sister and probably a lot more fun. Frustrated and Corrupted, both clocking in at under two minutes, fit the mold cast by the opening track - just furiously pissed off music best enjoyed by pissed off people. There's a strong crossover element here, blending punk and hardcore with thrash metal and even doom in a couple of spots (the riffing is where you'll notice it) but it works. These guys do what they do really well.

World's Gone Weak is a slower, sludgier track, at least in chunks, it sort of goes back and forth and ends with a full frontal assault with some insanely fast playing and some completely over the top vocals. Full Of Hate is another longer track, comparatively speaking, as it's almost three minutes. It starts off with just the guitar, then the bass plucks away, the drums kick in nicely and it builds quite efficiently into a snarling, raging bitch of a song. Right Between The Eyes goes back into 'straight to the point' mode, a ninety second burst of fury that's over before it begins, while Burning Pain is sixty-three seconds of distilled sonic hatred.

Obsolete cranks up the running time past the three minute mark again, with a strong riff front and center played fast and slick to get your fist pumping, with an intermission of sorts where the song turns into a wall of feedback. Time's Up is a bit more simple sounding after Obsolete's more complex sound but it's fast, nasty and awesome all at the same time. For The Indolent is seventy-one seconds long and it's pretty much perfect at that length, just an obscenely lean, trimmed down slice of angsty punk rock done right. It all comes to a close with Taste The Chaos at three minutes even. From the opening 'FUCK YOU' through to the last lick, this is a great way to finish off the album, channeling a whole lot of punk and hardcore influences like Dead Kennedys and Poison Idea into a one hundred and eighty seconds of frantically righteous anger. This album is fucking awesome.
