    Los Angeles Latino Film Fest Winner Embodies Rising Voice of Uruguayan Cinema

    January 11th, 2011 (New York, NY) - Film Movement (
    www.filmmovement.com), the distributor of award-winning independent and foreign films, announces today that BAD DAY TO GO FISHING will be released on DVD on February 8th, 2011. This Spanish language debut feature from Uruguayan filmmaker ílvaro Brechner is a dark comedy that depicts a scamming hustler and his wrestler sidekick as they attempt to swindle the inhabitants of a small Uruguayan town circa 1961. All Film Movement DVDs include a short film—this month's DVD features two shorts from BAD DAY TO GO FISHING filmmaker ílvaro Brechner. The short film SOFIA tells the story of a young women who went missing for years and THE NINE MILE WALK features two friends on a surprising voyage.

    The DVD will be available at Film Movement (www.filmmovement.com), and also through major retailers such as Blockbuster, Amazon, Netflix and Passion River Films.

    Synopsis of BAD DAY TO GO FISHING:
    Jacob van Oppen - formerly "the strongest man on earth", now a washed-up alcoholic - and his crafty manager, Orsini, make good money staging bogus wrestling matches in a small South American towns. When this oddball duo arrives in the unassuming village of Santa Maria, business really takes off: the local newspaper sponsors the fight, and the quiet hamlet becomes plastered with posters announcing an open challenge to a worthy adversary. The ever-resourceful Orsini is sure he can find the right opponent to throw the fight, but fishing in Santa Maria yields a bigger catch than he'd hoped for.
