Gra- Ramsvarta Tankar
Gra - Ramsvarta Tankar
Released by: Carnal Records
Released on: March 24h, 2017.
Purchase From Amazon
Gra, mostly consisting of current/previous members from Dark Funeral and Cursed 13, is a black metal band hailing from Sweden. On this single we have Heljarmadr on vocals, Dimman on drums, Maugrim on guitars, Natt on guitars, and Vediger on bass offering us a solid dose of melodic black metal.
The title track, Ramsvarta Tankar, has a less intense atmosphere than band's last album, Ending (a very good release), which by no means is a bad thing. There are still clearly recognizable aspects, like the riffing and the vocals, however, the production places a greater emphasis on bass this time around which cuts some of the sharpness of the guitar tone. The song has a similar structure to He Who Comes (from Ending), but there is still enough variety to have its own identity.
The second track is a cover of Lord Belial's Osculum Obscenum, which is faithful to the original, though it does take artistic license at the end of the track. I will leave it at that for you to check it out and understand what I mean.
Overall, the single is satisfying, but not spectacular. If you are a fan of Dark Funeral or Dissection, you might dig this.

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have been at this since the early 1980s and are probably best remembered for giving bassist Jason Newstead to METALLICA. Their first two records - Doomsday For The Deceiver and No Place For Disgrace are considered classics of the thrash metal genre but like many other acts that started strong on an indie label and wound up on a major label during the thrash signing boom ...-

Purchase From Amazon Recorded in Bulgaria - where life is cheap! Hot on the heels of his utterly bizarre We Are One collaboration (also reviewed here at RSP!), everyone's favorite Teutonic Metal ogre Herr Udo Dirkschneider returns with that ubiquitous staple - the live album. For a while now it has been common practice for legacy acts, or pretty much any band with a history over 20 years long, to release a live album...-

Released by: Massacre Records Released on: February 12, 2021. Purchase From Amazon “Metal in my head... EXPLODING!†Germany's WIZARD have been at this since 1991 and at this point have pretty much nailed this “true metal†thing down to a science. This, the band's 12th full length offers very little in the way of musical surprises and appears to be purposefully designed that way. WIZARD are catering to a very specific demographic - aficionados of gloriously irony-free...
