“MARCUS KING is on the trail of the Dutchman— the man who shot him in the back and left him crippled. This is not only the culmination of a decade long search for his enemy, it is also the end of a long road to recover the use of his limbs. The technology used to repair Marcus was in its infancy; nano was bigger then. But it still works. Game on!”

This third issue beings with a flashback to King's time in Tunisia. He's been given the injection by the old Russian named Rem. He wakes up in pain but after stumbling out of bed and walking, he realizes that it worked… and then some.

Cut to the present day where King is in the Ukraine making short work of a dozen or so soldiers in the Dutchman's employ. Soroya has been kidnapped and he'll do whatever he needs to do to get her back. He slaughters his way through the compound and makes his way inside heading down to the sub-basement where he's surprised to see a dozen or so patients strapped to hospital beds.

Once he's down there, he experiences plenty of return fire and then comes face to face with an armored team of men we assume are Rem's later experiments. And then we see what King can really do, while in King Cay, things hit the fan…

This issue is pretty much straight up action. A few flashback pages give us some insight into King's backstory and that in turn ties into his current plight, so it's hardly devoid of character development or plot development, but it is definitely heavy on the fisticuffs and the shoot outs. Not that we're complaining, mind you, because it's quite well done. Alex de Campi keeps things moving nicely, there's more to this than just King kicking the shit out of his enemies. We know why he's doing what he's doing, his motivation is there. He does it well and it's an entertaining read. As to the artwork, ChrisCross lays out the panels nicely and has a good eye for detail. The action flows nicely and the colors from Snakebite Cortez lend themselves nicely to the visuals.

This one ends on a solid cliffhanger - the kind that makes you want to know what the next issue will bring. Tense stuff!
