    Year: 1973

    The Movie:

The sixth in the seemingly endless barrage of Ernst Hofbauer's Schoolgirl Report series of early seventies sexy 'documentaries' purporting to expose the decadent behavior of the youth of the era, What Parents Would Gladly Hush Up pretty much follows the formula that Hofbauer established with the earlier entries.

As it was with the first films, this picture is essentially a series of vignettes linked primarily by the picture's theme. The first story follows a pair of students who decide that once the teacher leaves they'll use the classroom to have sex in. Of course, as they're getting it on, they get caught in the act after which they're reprimanded by being brought in front of the school board where they're basically put on trial for their actions. This meeting with the board sets up the rest of the vignettes as during the discussion the teens on trial give up the dirt on what's really happening in the school when no one is looking.

We learn about a foxy teenage girl with lesbian leanings who takes a carnal interest in her teacher. She's forward enough to make her intentions clear but the teacher isn't interested, at which point the girl decides her best course of action will be to blackmail her and get her fired. From there we're introduced to the school's resident playboy, a young man who can seemingly get any girl he wants. His promiscuous ways soon land him in some hot water, however, as one of the girls he has encountered gets fed up with his behavior and decides, with some help from a few friends, to pay him back in spades. During a sex education class, the female students are amused by the male window-washer who apparently has no qualms whatsoever about flirting with the young women. This leads the rather brazen man to sneak into the classroom and screw a few of the students, all while the teacher continues her lesson completely unaware of what's happening only a few feet away from her. From there we witness a darker tale where a drunken man loses a bet he can't pay, at which point he offers up his daughter's virginity in place of the cash. After this, the fiend decides he's found a good way to earn some extra cash and puts his daughter to work. Last but not least, a girl who takes fencing lessons falls for her instructor who is completely down with taking her to bed.

Sexy and more than a little bit goofy, the film moves along at a brisk eighty-five minutes, packing in plenty of cute naked Euro-babes into its flimsy if efficient storyline. Like the films that came before it, it's not nearly as enlightening or introspective as it tries fairly hard to be. If nothing else, the stories do serve to put the screwy sex scenes into an entertaining context, so there's something to be said for that. The film obviously did well enough to keep the series running, and while it's not as dark and twisted as the second entry or as sexy as the fourth (Christina Lindberg - yay!), it is just as entertaining as what came before.

    Video/Audio/Extras:

Impulse's 1.66.1 anamorphic widescreen transfer is pretty decent even if it isn't completely pristine. A fine coat of natural film grain is present throughout the film as are some occasional instances of really minor print damage in the form of specs and tiny scratches. None of this is particularly distracting but it is there. Color reproduction looks a bit faded but is otherwise okay while the black levels are closer to grey at times. Detail is alright for the most part, but it won't blow you away.

The German language Dolby Digital Mono track, which comes with optional English subtitles, has a little bit of background hiss here and there but you probably won't notice it unless you're specifically listening for it. Aside from that, this is a decent, well-balanced track that delivers completely audible dialogue and a nice score.

Like all of the other releases so far in this line up, the only extras are a static menu screen and chapter selection. Aside from that, this DVD is barebones.

    The Final Word:

If you've enjoyed the earlier entries this is more or less in the same league - it's goofy, sexy, and a good bit of fun even if it isn't particularly deep. Impulse's release is on par with the first five films in the series, in that it's certainly watchable, even if it's not all that remarkable.
