ZOMBI has completed work on a brand new full-length album titled Escape Velocity. Escape Velocity, the follow-up to 2009's Spirit Animal, was recorded in part by ZOMBI's Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra in Pittsburgh, PA and Nyack, NY. The album was mastered by Denis Blackham (THE WHO, LED ZEPPELIN, WILSON PICKETT, KRAFTWERK) at Skye Mastering in Scotland. Escape Velocity is set for a May 10th North American release date and will be available on CD (pre-order here), LP, and digitally. Additional release information and audio samples with be posted shortly.
ZOMBI's Steve Moore commented on the new album; “I think the album came together exactly as planned, considering we had no plan. In fact I'm not even sure we knew we were making an album. Actually I can't remember at all. Anyway it's Jeremy's artwork that really ties it all together. Naked women, sports cars, mid-century modern architecture, space. The boy's a Shakespeare.â€
ZOMBI has unveiled Escape Velocity's album art via the band's MySpace page. The artwork is courtesy of Jeremy Schmidt (BLACK MOUNTAIN).
ZOMBI is available for interviews upon request. To speak with the band, simply contact Betsey Cichoracki at Relapse Records via any of the means listed at the bottom of this message. Updated ZOMBI news and release information will be made available at the Relapse Records website: RELAPSE.com, the ZOMBI website: ZOMBI.us, MySpace: MySpace.com/ZOMBI and Facebook page.
"The sound Zombi make-- equal parts Italo-funkers Goblin, Can's lockstep whirl, intro music to educational filmstrips of the 1970s, and Edgar Winter's undead "Frankenstein"-- can be almost impossibly epic…. [Zombi has] found myriad ways to match looming dread with body-rocking thunder†- Pitchfork
"indulgently gargantuan tracks that resolutely blow up their artistic canvas to a size that would have intimidated Jackson Pollack.†- FearNet
“[Zombi] reaches for virtuosic heights…flawless execution and transparent production are never in question. The melodic intricacies can melt the brains of Guitar Center employees and leave headbanging dudes in tears.†- TIME OUT CHICAGO
“a spellbinding mission statement of renewal and transformation.†- ROCK-A-ROLLA
“the group takes its distinctive electronic sound to new sonic heights.†- RUE MORGUE
“magnificently brave and ingenious†- TERRORIZER
“Imagine the score to a creepy '70s horror film blown up to epic proportions and drenched in rich textures and atmospheres and you're on your way to just how awesome they are.†- KERRANG
“a magnificent opus.†- OUTBURN
“With analog synths set to “stunâ€, the Pittsburgh duo sound like the soundtrack from a lost John Carpenter film.†- ALTERNATIVE PRESS
“Zombi have yet to disappoint†- THE AQUARIAN

Judas Priest - Electric Eye – Movie Review:
The Judas Priest – Electric Eye DVD from Sony Music/BMG captures the band at the height of their popularity and was released just in time for what was, at the time, the upcoming reunion tour which saw original vocalist Rob Halford reuniting with the band...-

FLOTSAM AND JETSAM have been at this since the early 1980s and are probably best remembered for giving bassist Jason Newstead to METALLICA. Their first two records - Doomsday For The Deceiver and No Place For Disgrace are considered classics of the thrash metal genre but like many other acts that started strong on an indie label and wound up on a major label during the thrash signing boom ...-

Purchase From Amazon Recorded in Bulgaria - where life is cheap! Hot on the heels of his utterly bizarre We Are One collaboration (also reviewed here at RSP!), everyone's favorite Teutonic Metal ogre Herr Udo Dirkschneider returns with that ubiquitous staple - the live album. For a while now it has been common practice for legacy acts, or pretty much any band with a history over 20 years long, to release a live album...-

Released by: Massacre Records Released on: February 12, 2021. Purchase From Amazon “Metal in my head... EXPLODING!†Germany's WIZARD have been at this since 1991 and at this point have pretty much nailed this “true metal†thing down to a science. This, the band's 12th full length offers very little in the way of musical surprises and appears to be purposefully designed that way. WIZARD are catering to a very specific demographic - aficionados of gloriously irony-free...
