As part of their current tour with Roll The Tanks and The Koffin Kats, Boston’s The Street Dogs played an early show at the Highline Ballroom on the west side of Manhattan last night. The headliners were on stage by 8:30 and played for almost ninety minutes solid, blasting through a solid set of content from throughout their ten year career. Surprisingly, the encore consisted of ...

Tesco Vee and his latest incarnation of the three decade old Meatmen played Europa in Brooklyn on August 31, 2012. Taking the stage looking resplendent in his Flamenco style ABBA pants, a feather boa, light up devil horns and a blinking LED belt buckle reminding us that ‘YOU SUCK’ he thrust a giant inflatable cock into the crowd and showered them with confetti. ...

To tell you the absolute truth, I hate going to concerts by myself. Despite the fact that conversation between co-attendees is generally governed by gig volume and breaks between the songs, it’s always nice to be able to turn to your friend(s) and do the “Fuck, yeah” nod in appreciation of what you’re witnessing taking place on

Former front man for The Dictators, Handsome Dick Manitoba, took his new band, simply called Manitoba, on tour for a few quick dates in Ontario this past weekend. Made up of originals Dictators and former Manowar guitar player Ross The Boss and former Dictators drummer JP Patterson as well as newcomers Daniel Rey on guitar and Dean Rispler on bass, these mighty men of rock n roll put Hamilton venue This Ain’t Hollywood under the thunder much to the delight of the rowdy crowd.

As seems to be the norm for the band, they opened quite rightly with The Party

Pulp’s first New York City show since 1998 took place at one of the city’s most historic venues last night and while the band may have aged they haven’t slowed down in the least. Without a single new song to perform the band tore through two hours of what was basically a greatest hits show (with a few omissions – no ‘Help The Aged’ or ‘Cocaine Socialism’ sadly!) with an emphasis on material from the Different Class album.

An amusing laser light show asked the audience a few interesting questions

Last night at The Bowery Electric in Manhattan rock and roll history was made when the New York City debut (and only the second show ever – there was a short set performed at the awesome Asbury Lanes on January 13th) of Manitoba thundered into the downstairs performance space to deliver pure, unadulterated rock and roll to a crowd that had to have been packed in the past legal capacity. Despite the fact

For the seventh year in a row now, Boston’s Street Dogs, lead by former Dropkick Murphy’s frontman Mike McColgan (and now having far surpassed that band in terms of importance and ability) have headlined the ‘Wreck The Halls Tour’ along the east coast of these United States. Supporting acts for the December 10th, 2011 show at Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, New Jersey included Long Island’s own The Jukebox Romantics, a celt punk band from Texas lead by a Scotsman called Murder The Stout, and punk act Off With Their Heads.

Turbonegro played their first (and so far only!) U.S. show with their new singer last night at Santo’s Party House to kick off the World Snowboarding Championships. Hosted by Andrew WK, who really only appeared on stage after the main set ended to encourage the crowd to cheer for an encore (which we did and which we got), the sold out show attracted fans from as far away as France and the band did not disappoint. Former Dukes Of Nothing frontman Tony Sylvester had

June 19th was the date of the fourth annual Punk Island festival, a free concert arranged in conjunction with Make Music NYC. For the fourth year in a row music fans crammed onto a ferry in lower Manhattan, trying to smuggle beer and pot past security guards for the five minute boat ride across the water to Governors Island, a former military installation now made into park land to watch various acts, local and otherwise, play on the makeshift dirt stages. ...

Off! have been touring with California’s Trash Talk and New York City’s Cerebral Ballzy over the last month or so and at the time of this writing have only a few more East Coast dates left before the tour ends (and Off! headlines on the west coast). While the acoustics aren’t always great at Santos (last night being no exception), the staff was ...
