Why is there no font called "new roman porno"?
Bunky, can you finally get it through your thick skull that the only way you will ever get to view many Japanese movies is to go to Japan and buy the DVD there?
If you need another excuse for going to Japan, as though the FIFA Club World Cup in December is insufficient, you can punt for FlyerTalk Forum's "Japan Do #5 - Tokyo" on 13 - 15 April 2017.
Practically every store in Japan sells DVDs (some even sell JAVs). This new movie from Nikkatsu would certainly be on offer there. Just remember that if you are queried by your country's customs officer what you bought, tell him "DVDs". Do not specify new roman porno DVDs.

WET WOMAN IN THE WIND just got confirmed for the local film festival here in Vienna at the end of October and I am just beyond happy right now

Here is a link to the festival homepage: Viennale Film Festival

Unfortunately there aren't many other Japanese films playing this year besides in the retrospective. The only other recent Japanese film confirmed is ROUND TRIP HEART (Romansu; 2015, Yuki Tanada). I haven't decided yet wether I'll go for this or not, but to be honest I most probably will, lol.

The retrospective on the other hand is just pure gold. There are many classics featured this year, not only from Japan, so it's like heaven for every film lover I guess. Japanese films featured are YOJIMBO and SEVEN SAMURAI from Kurosawa, MESHI from Mikio Naruse and A STORY OF FLOATING WEEDS (1934) as well as the remake FLOATING WEEDS (1959) by Yasujiro Ozu. They'll also screen LADY SNOWBLOOD. Of course all of them in 35mm and I'm planning to go for all of them

ROUND TRIP HEART is surprisingly good. Japan used to produce this kind of nice little films 10-15 years ago, but now they are rare.

Please let us know how the Lady Snowblood print looks like. The one I saw in Tokyo didn't look anything like the boosted Criterion BD.

Sounds great. Trailer didn't look too bad also (I hate most trailers for newer Japanese films, so that's a good sign). Will go for it if I'll be able to catch a ticket

I expect it to look different to the Criterion BD as well as the Arrow one. Of course I'll post about it after I've seen it. I've only made good experiences at the cinema they'll be screening it, so definitely looking forward to it!

Just found this trailer with English subtitles for WET WOMAN IN THE WIND:

    Looks like fun ...

    Trailer for Aroused by Gymnopedies

Looking a bit less good than I expected.

The Roman Porno website has also been updated:

Damn. Takuma was faster than me. Just wanted to post about this right now.

I like both trailers, though I think that the Japanese trailer for WET WOMAN IN THE WIND might look different than the festival trailer I posted above. Looking forward to the other ones also!

I'll go watch WET WOMAN IN THE WIND on October 31st. Will most likely post about it later in this thread.

Takuma, I am assuming you are going to watch a few of these also, or am I wrong?

Yeah, I'm actually pretty excited about this. Resurrecting Roman Porno with some interesting directors, producing 5 films at once, releasing them all in theaters within a couple of months... this is almost like waiting for a new Star Wars movie

[seems like they won't be hitting the theatre near me until 2017, though]
