Strange copy, that. I VAMPIRI was released here in the UK as LUST OF THE VAMPIRE and Freda was credited as 'Robert Hampton' in that version of the film. Why credit this release of the film in that way, however?

It's almost like they ripped it off the back of an old vhs or press book. At least we know the value of what they have, even if they don't!

That's what I thought too. I was wracking my brains to see if I recognised it, maybe from the old Stablecane VHS release.

I love this movie...but the US version? Seriously? Sigh....I'll still pick it up.

Is the US version butchered like Argento's US versions used to be?

It seems the US cut is about 11 or 12 minutes shorter. That sounds pretty butchered to me.

I assume some asshole thought it was too "talky" and took it upon himself to re-direct it.
It can't be a censor issue since removing the questionable bits would destroy the story...no?

You may be right. DVD Savant said "The absence of explicit nudity, violence and gore kept the export versions of Horrible from suffering the huge censor cuts that gutted many later European productions"

    Source.

"Ostalgica will be releasing Riccardo Freda's Gothic horror gem L'orribile segreto del Dr. Hichcock (known as Terror of Dr. Hichcock and Horrible Dr. Hichcock) on Blu-Ray under its new German title Das schreckliche Geheimnis des Dr. Hichcock.

It will be coming for the first time in Germany (which means that it will be dubbed for the first time here) and for the first time in its original uncut version worldwide. "
