Ian, it seems there IS a UHD 4K version, but they're released separately - not as one set like the German one:

I haven't seen this since the days of VHS. I am still not sure I need to see it again. But since I am a sucker for Arrow I will probably get it at some point.

This is bound to be an identical transfer to the german disc, no?

I still haven't upgraded to a UHD blu-ray player (only a 4K TV so far). If nothing out of the ordinary happens financially, I can take the plunge by the end of the year.

I know Turbine tried to get it for their release but Criterion wouldn't let them license it. I hope it's because they'll put out the film themselves. At any rate I'm not buying any other version until an US release is announced and I can decide which release is the best.

Same master for sure, Arrow's encoding may be slightly different though.

One of the Turbine guys mentioned on another forum that they had tried to get the rights from Criterion for a whole year without succeeding

Anyhoo, it would be nice if they'd include it but it's not like we can't hear it (as it's on youtube).

I put Arrow's UHD in the basket at their site just to see what it would cost me and holy fuck it's expensive. I might spring for the german release instead.
