That's actually old news, find it odd that BBC is just releasing it now. It also mentions that the producer Steven Moffat is also leaving and, not mentioned, the new companion is only signed for this year. Looks like it will be complete reboot after this season.

Looks like Kim Marhsall might be the one to replace Capaldi? Just speculation, mind you.

Can't see them going with a white male again this time up. There's so much push here for a little diversity that I think they'd be super wary of the backlash. Kim Manners would be a fun choice and so would soften the blow but I still don't think they'd dare. I wouldn't. I'm hoping they go with some racial diversity over gender myself. The Doctor being black doesn't change things at all. The Doctor being a woman on the other hand shakes things up a good deal more. Though maybe that's a good thing. The show has been looking a bit tired... Personally I just hope the next doctors not wacky. I'm a bit over the doctor being a clown. I had been hoping Capaldi might bring a bit of gravitas but the doctors still a loon with him. Not that he's not great but I feel the need of a change of tone. Someone who's doing something more Pertwee-ish would be grand.

How goods this season been? A couple dud episodes leading up to the finale 2 parter but otherwise quality all through. I like the new companion, they should keep her on for more. And the cliffhanger this week has to rank with the all time best. Seriously hanging out for the next episode and haven't felt that way about Who for a while.

Interesting that the Doctor had his little chat about how gender doesn't count among timelords. He was talking about the Master but definitely felt to me that he was paving the way for this regeneration to be female.

I finally watched the last DR. WHO (actually the last two that I watched back to back) and I found this season to be very so-so. I never felt any rush to watch them and just looking at IMDB for a recap, I have a hard time remembering some of the episodes. I actually remember last year's episodes better. As for Pearl Mackie, I thought she was okay. I'm not really sure you can really judge her just by one season so we'll see how she goes in the future. Right now, I would rate her about the same as Billy Piper, but, while risking the wraith of DR. WHO fans, I was never really a fan of Piper. For the record, I would rate them Gillan, Coleman, Agyeman (the forgotten one), Mackie then Piper.

Maybe it was because everyone was leaving (I'm not sure if Mackie has even been signed for the next season) but I found this season to be rather disappointing.
