I watched the pilot, and I think this is off to a good start. It has the usual pilot tendency to not go much of anywhere, but that sort of is to be expected when a series is busy setting up the characters, the milieu and establishing the time period. Both James Franco and Maggie Gyllenhaall seem like good fits for their respective roles, and the setting is nicely realised, albeit with some really obvious CGI in the wider shots of Times Square (just a few times in the first episode).

    EDIT:
Oh, and a certain Argento giallo makes an appearence on a movie theatre marquee, although (intentionally?) misspelled.

Watched the pilot last night and really enjoyed it. They did a really nice job of recreating era and everything has a nice patina to it. I especially geeked out on the marquees and posters that were in frequent view.

Same. Really liked it. And it does a much better job of creating that atmosphere than VINYL did.

A fucking asshole Swedish critic spoiled the whole season for me. You sort of know where everything is going, but I would've really liked to see it for myself. Whst day do the new episodes air?

Ep 3 airs next Sunday. That is a ball bust, I hate spoilers.

Watched Pilot into Ep 2 past night.
Wow, 2.5 hrs that literally flew by. Also several major laugh out loud moments.

That is a testament to how great the writing, acting and direction was.
After the jumble that was TWIN PEAKS S3, this was a huge breath of fresh entertainment air.

Show definitely has the WIRE vibe going, really looking forward to the rest of this season's episode.

This is good so far. Really interesting pimp characters - so far I think CC has had the best moments (that armpit scene was brutal). Cool to see Ralph Macchio.

Didn't even realize that was Macchio at first. Everyone is great in this.
