    Bizzaro Celebrity Albums!

A few beers into last night I decided to listen to the Robert Mitchum 'Calypso Is Like So' album while hanging out in the living room in my underwear. This got me thinking about other bizarre celebrity albums. Mitchum actually put out two LPs, the calypso album and one of more traditional crooner material where he covers Little Ol' Wine Drinker Me and Sunnie and actually does them rather well. Hearing him do calypso songs with the accent and everything is a bit more fun though.

I'll fully admit that I own and like John Travolta Sings. It's not really bizarre, I suppose, but, I don't know...shut up, Todd.

Another one I'm really fond of is the Jack Palance record. He does a song called The Meanest Guy Who Ever Lived that's just completely epic and was, according to the liner notes, at one point sort of being groomed as a country artist. He does another song called Goodbye Lucy that's all about his sexual conquests, or lack thereof, and he even covers The Green, Green Grass of Home.

This one? It counts. I haven't heard it but I know I've seen it around.

Word. I think the weirdest one I've heard is Zebedy Colt's I Sing For You, in which he croons out weird gay versions of fairly traditional love songs. It's campy just because it is what it is, but Zebedy actually turns out to have a fairly decent voice. It's odd to see a porn star you so associate with a role (in this case a hetero one and a freakishly out there one - Sex Wish) crooning away about how great his man is. It's pretty awesome.

I have an image to post of the Christina Lindberg 45 she recorded in the 70s and mp3s of the tracks, but they're at home. It qualifies as bizarro I think.

Scarlet Johansson's Tom Waits tribute album is weird enough to qualify too.
