88 Films Releasing Amazonia The Catherine Miles Story

    Coming in June:

It took four years after the success of Umberto Lenzi's classic gut-ripper CANNIBAL FEROX for the Italian nasty native film to make a comeback and the first frightener to crawl out of the jungle squalor was AMAZONIA also known as WHITE SLAVE. Telling of a frequently naked western blonde (played by the gorgeous grindhouse sex symbol Elvire Audrey) who is captured, stripped and tormented by a group of jungle headhunters, AMAZONIA is perfectly fitting with the sleaze and schlock that this torrid trend became known for! Finally unleashed uncut and in HD by 88 Films, AMAZONIA is a must-see Italian shocker that perfectly compliments the excess of such video nasty gems as MAN FROM DEEP RIVER and CANNIBAL HOLOCAUST!!!

It's easily the weakest of the Italo Cannibal pictures. There's some decent gore here and there but essentially it's a female take on Man From Deep River.

Press release is wrong too. It was never cut. It was released over here on VHS uncut. There's not much to cut anyway.

Really? Melon Farmers claims the VHS was cut by almost a minute, as does Schnittberichte (though they claim cuts of only 29 seconds).

Well, of course the BBFC would cut it. But it was released uncut in America.

Ah right. I wouldn't say the press release is wrong though. The marketing for British discs mostly ignores the international market, so any claims about censorship typically only refer to previous British releases. It's the same in places like Australia where Government censorship of horror films used to be rife. You'll get 'Banned for 30 years, Now Released Uncut!' hype about films that have never been cut in places like America.

Technically you're correct but it's still marketing hyperbole.

    From FB:

"Here's a cool screengrab of MIchael Sopkiw (MASSACRE IN DINOSAUR VALLEY), who will appear in the new High Rising documentary THE LAST SUPPER: THE FINAL DAYS OF THE ITALIAN CANNIBAL FILM... This new documentary will be on our forthcoming BluRay release of AMAZONIA and will feature quite a few guest talkers!

How is that for a cool bonus?"
