Looking forward to these. To think we've had to wait for over a decade for a special edition of Scanners and The Brood.

Crazy, right? I'm all over these. And will definitely upgrade to Naked Lunch and Eraserhead on Blu-ray. Criterion seems to be rolling out some very welcome genre titles lately. Nice to see that.

I'm just happy that the picture of Cronenberg with a bag full of Criterion swag actually was a clue that they were working on SCANNERS and not that he just stopped by to get some free stuff.

The ROSEMARY'S BABY blu is ridiculously good looking. What an amazing presentation.

It turns out that the Easter Eggs from the DVDs have been carried over to the Blu-rays and they are accessible. You just have to have it on the right menu and hit the blue button on the remote. For Example, on the ISLAND ON LOST SOULS Blu, go to the Casale and Mothersbaugh menu, hit the blue button and you bring up the short clip of Ernie Anderson talking to Ghoulardi.

Yet another Japanese set and more Japanese singles. I love Japanese cinema, too, but somebody at Criterion is obsessesed.

I want Criterion to release RIDE IN THE WHIRLWIND and THE SHOOTING (both 1965), the two Monte Hellman westerns they'e been sitting on for several years.

Criterion discriminates against westerns. Only six westerns out of 500 releases since they converted to DVD and blu-ray in 1997 -- not a good record.

So many artful and breakthrough westerns from the earliest days of cinema up through the 1980s that haven't been released on home video and that are more than up to Criterion standards.
