Attack of the Giant Leeches [Elvira's Movie Macabre] (USA, 1959)
Not Elvira’s best and the film is a bit of a turd. It’s not helped that the picture is very dark even in daytime scenes. I was excited when I recognized Playboy Playmate Yvette Vickers but with the PQ being so poor i didn't matter much.

Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (USA, 1953) 5/10
It’s fun seeing Karloff and there are some funny moments, but the final chase goes on forever and there are a few too many stretches without a laugh. The social commentary is so in your face its obnoxious. I get it lady, women can do anything men can do. I need to be better about adding an Abbott and Costello to my holiday viewing each year. Their brand of humor makes for a perfect palette cleanser. If not A&C maybe find some horror themed Looney Tunes.

    Trick 'r Treat (USA, 2007) 9/10
I can’t think of a film better suited for Halloween night viewing. I love its focus on Halloween tradition but it’s also funny, creepy and consistently entertaining. Its has a quick pace as well. Oh, so satisfying.

Blood Night: The Legend of Mary Hatchet (USA, 2009) 6/10
This one is a mixed bag but I find it very worthwhile. There are few too many quick cuts and shaky cam gets overused at times. The group of sheep make some incredibly dumb decisions to keep the film going, but hey it’s a slasher film. There is a fun party atmosphere complete hot chicks and fun campfire-esque stories delivered by bill Mosley and Danielle Harris. There are some tense scenes. The gore and T&A is plentiful and top notch. And I dig the final act. The killer marches around like a Terminator wiping out the sheep that were to stupid call their parents or police. It checks a lot of boxes and overcomes a few obvious shortcomings.
