    One Cut Of The Dead

This just played at the MAMI festival to pretty rave reviews.

"Things go badly for a hack director and film crew shooting a low budget zombie movie in an abandoned WWII Japanese facility, when they are attacked by real zombies."

    Very positive review here:

This sounds fun even if I'm pretty burnt out on zombie movies.

It`s been a huge phenomena in Japan: a film shot with absolutely no money (I think I read the cast had to pay their own expenses of being in the film and received no salary) and that was lucky to get any kind of theatrical release at all... it started in a few indie cinemas, then later multiplexes started booking it and showing it on their biggest screens. Now it`s been booked to approx 350 theaters so far.

To provide comparison point, Venom will open on roughly 350 screens. Mandy, which will open next week, has been booked to 18 cinemas so far. Tsukamoto`s upcoming Killing has about 40 theaters.

With my antipathy for new JP indies, I still haven`t dared to watch it.

Oh and why is this in "International" and not "Asian" board?

I've been wanting to check this out. TWF has the rights & they plan a dvd/blu ray release early next year in the UK.
