Variety, a reliable source, says that this is happening for a 2020 release.

The original films were garbage. I know they're held in some esteem by a few people, but I thought it was mindless idiocy centered around being as gruesome as gruesome could be within the confines of the studio machine. Expect more wisecracking with Chris Rock.

I thought the first one was garbage too and never bothered watching the rest. Too much hype and viral marketing. By the time I watched it, it felt like I'd already seen the best parts. I've been meaning to revisit the original series and give it another shot. Not sure about Chris Rock's involvement in the reboot. Feels like Lionsgate is trying to copy Blumhouse and Jordan Peele's success.

I've never had an interest in SAW but mentioning Chris Rock got my attention. I like the idea of Chris Rock in a horror film, but not sure I want to see a SAW film.

Not %100 sure why I don't want to see the SAW films. I don't seek out torture porn in general but I have enjoyed a few when I've found a reason to watch one. I'm probably a little put off by their popularity/marketing as well. Like I said, not sure why.
