Fango's got the scoop on two upcoming Synapse releaease.

1 - a reissue of Document Of The Dead due 11/13/12:

"a re-edited, remastered edition of Roy Frumkes’ portrait of George A. Romero, framed as a behind-the-scenes look at his 1979 classic DAWN OF THE DEAD. This version contains a wealth of new, exclusive material, including additional interviews with Romero’s family and friends, candid on-set footage from TWO EVIL EYES, LAND OF THE DEAD, DIARY OF THE DEAD and SURVIVAL OF THE DEAD and other surprises, plus a fresh audio commentary by Frumkes."

    2 - A French thriller called Asylum:

"a 2008 French production a.k.a. I WANT TO BE A GANGSTER and directed by Olivier Chateau, is a psychological confinement/survival saga about a low-level crook (Julien Courbey) who aspires to rise through the criminal ranks but makes a deadly mistake and winds up chained to a tree, left to die with no food or water, and confronts predators both human and animal. Presented in 1.78:1 widescreen with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound, the movie will be accompanied by a making-of featurette, the short film HOMER and the original promotional trailer. Retail price for each disc is $19.95."

    Coming 12/11/12:

A CHILLING COLLECTION OF TELEVISION TERRORS IN THE TRADITION OF THE TWILIGHT ZONE AND ONE STEP BEYOND!

The television series Chiller was a five episode horror anthology that aired in the UK in 1995. Presented here for the first time in the U.S., these supernatural shockers feature malevolent spirits, a brutal serial killer and a haunted house set in contemporary England. Starring many of Britain’s leading actors like Nigel Havers (Chariots of Fire, TV’s Coronation Street), Martin Clunes (UK’s Men Behaving Badly), Sophie Ward (Young Sherlock Holmes) and Kevin McNally (Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series), this compelling collection will leave you chilled to the bone!

This TWO-DISC SET contains the following episodes:

    PROPHECY:
When a group of friends hold a séance in the basement of a London café, they each receive a prophecy. Five years later, the frightening prophecies begin to come true.

    TOBY:
Ray and Louise Knight tragically lose Toby, their unborn baby, in a car accident. Louise soon discovers she’s pregnant again, but a routine scan reveals she is not… even though her body feels like she is!

    HERE COMES THE MIRROR MAN:
A social worker helps a young homeless man but may die trying, when she discovers her predecessor was murdered under mysterious circumstances.

THE MAN WHO DIDN’T BELIEVE IN GHOSTS:
Richard Cramer, a professional de-bunker of the paranormal, moves into Windwhistle Hall with his family, only to find themselves involved in a series of unexplained events and accidents.

    NUMBER SIX:
In Helsby, a small Yorkshire town, police search desperately for a child killer. Tied somehow to an ancient Druidic site, this killer may strike again at the next full moon.

I remember those well. Some of those episodes were pretty good.

Don 'Big Tease' May Jr. just posted this on Facebook:

"You know, I'm in a REALLY great mood today. Knowing what I know now, and the giant release(s) bomb that Synapse is about to drop, I have to do everything in my power to not just blurt out the names of a couple awesome titles we just acquired. Soon folks... very soon. But not soon enough for the speculation to get wildly out of control. Hahah!"

Don mentioned on Facebook this morning that Synapse will be releasing DEMONS in 2013 on Blu-ray.

He noted: "Just so you know... we will also be correcting the incorrect black levels and the botched day-for-night shots that have plagued other versions. Other things, too. More info as we go along..." and he also notes that "perhaps there will be multiple audio tracks."

When asked about DEMONS 2, he said 'perhaps.'

Honestly, not too interested in another release of Demons. Now, a release of Michele Soavi's The Church with commentary and maybe unearthing the 20 or so minutes of lost footage would be interesting.

I have both Arrow DEMONS sets but haven't gotten around to watching them yet. Was DEMONS 1 a botched job?

I like that film but I'm happy with the old Anchor Bay DVD...
