Man, that's not "big" news...that's sad news. RIP Jimmy -- 83's a pretty good wicket, thanks for all the great movie memories.

Hammer Films just sent this out on twitter:

"We've just reunited Shane Briant & Madeline Smith for a #FrankensteinAndTheMonsterFromHell commentary!"

Nothing more to it than that, but could this mean there's a Blu-ray release in the works?

Yes, could be. They hinted at the fact that there were more "surprise" announcements for UK BD later in the year -- and FATMFH was the only DDVideo Hammer that Icon isn't re-releasing on DVD in Britain next month. You're a very astute young man, you know that Mr. Jane?

And don't forget: they also dropped the news that Satanic Rites of Dracula would be getting its first uncut UK release (also 16:9, which AB's disc wasn't) this year. Then quietly buried that news, as the announcement was a little...premature...

So in addition to the Quartermass BD, there's more on the way in the UK:

    http://hammerfilms.com/news/article/...lu-ray-and-dvd

":Nine Hammer titles come to UK Blu-ray and DVD in September. On September 19th, Studio Canal release Quatermass And The Pit in fully-restored HD on Blu-ray (in the film's original aspect ratio of 1.66:1).
Also, Icon release the following titles on September 12th:
"The Dick Barton Trilogy" (Secret Agent, Strikes Back & At Bay) [all 1.33:1 OAR]
"The Quatermass Double Bill" (The Quatermass Experiment & Quatermass 2) [both 1.33:1 OAR; NB: the print used is titled "The Quatermass Experiment"]
    X The Unknown [1.33:1 OAR]
The Abominable Snowman [2.35:1 aka "Hammerscope" OAR]
Captain Kronos Vampire Hunter [1.66:1 OAR]

These kind of slipped under my radar.

Today Warner Archive releases Hysteria and Moon Two Zero on MOD/DVD-R.

WARNER ARCHIVES commented on a post I made asking them if they were going to release WHEN DINOSAURS RULED TH EARTH. They replied, eventually, and intact, but no date has been set.
