I dunno man, Demons, Delirium and Blastfighter are all pretty great. I wouldn't completely write it off because he's directing it (though those movies were all made decades ago, I've no idea what he's been up to recently).

MACABRE and A BLADE IN THE DARK are also pretty swell. I think he peaked early (he churned out some real dreck after those early ones), but I'd be willing to give this a shot.

I'll give you Blastfighter. That one is good. Demons I think works because of the Argento and Dardano Saccheti influence. Macabre was good BUT the great Pupi Avati did some work on the script before abandoning. Everything else this man has made has been dog shit.

Blade in the Dark sucked aside from two murder scenes. It should have been called A Blade in the Dork.

I don't think I've seen Macabre, but I'm with Andrew on A Blade In The Dark. I like it. And I stand by Delirium as being legitimately awesome.

Dude, you need to get on Macabre. It is a quality slice of Eyetalian horror.

You should definitely check out MACABRE, Ian. As Alex mentioned, Pupi Avati worked on the story, and it does have that atmosphere of dread that his other horror films have. The ending is a total WTF for sure and I wish Bava had gone for something less outrageous, but the film is still really solid. Terrific, perverse as hell story.
