    Favorite albums of 2019

Post your favorite top 5, 10, or whatever. Here's mine:

Idle Hands - Mana - Gothic metal, very influenced by Sisters of Mercy. Unbelievably catchy with amazing riffs. In a just world, "Jackie" would be a smash hit.

Wormwitch - Heaven That Dwells Within - Blackened death and roll. Imagine a cross between Tribulation and Dissection. Great sense of melody, particularly on "Vernal Womb".

Devil Master - Satan Spits On Children Of Light - Crazy stuff, draws influence from anything from G.B.H. to Venom to Bathory. Love how the songs run into each other.

Witch Vomit - Buried Deep In A Bottomless Grave - Thrash-laced death. Crushing riffs and some cool samples. Yet more proof that 20 Buck Spin releases nothing but gold.

Gatecreeper - Deserted - Swedeath by way of Arizona, these guys somehow make this very played out genre seem fresh. Another example of crushing riffs, some of this also reminds me of Bolt Thrower.

I bought a lot of stuff in 2019, but after checking discogs; none of it was current.

    Orodruin - Ruins of Eternity
Profetus - The Sadness of Time Passing
Chrysta Bell - Feels Like Love
Dale Watson - Call Me Lucky
    Agnostic Front - Get Loud!
Lana Del Ray - Norman Fucking Rockwell!

    • Spook Show Spectacular A-Go-Go - various/Something Weird Video & Modern Harmonic
    • Layin’ Pipe b/w Lady Nightshade - The Fleshtones
    • I Used To Be Pretty - The Flesh Eaters
    • It’s Alive (anniversary set) - The Ramones
    • Mr. Peters’ Pets (OST) - Nicholas Carras/Something Weird Video

Clearly not all are LPs, but these were the only five new things I got this year, haha. Anything else was from years/decades before and not released in 2019.

    I bought over 100 CDs/LPs this year.

Here's the quantity that qualify as 2019 releases.

    Cirith Ungol - I'm Alive
Handsome Dick Manitoba - Born In The Bronx
Panic Beats - Slave To The Blade
Those Poor Bastards - Evil Seeds
Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds - Ghosteen
Danko Jones - A Rock Supreme
    Teenage Bottlerock - Stay Rad
Guitar Wolf - Love And Jett
Lenny Lashley's Gang Of One - All Are Welcome
Various - Something Weird's Greatest Hits (Discogs says 2018 but I think that's incorrect)

I'm happy with all of them, though the TBR album is just them going through the motions.

I still need to get the new AF.

Some digital acquisitions that were also good:

Child Bite - Blow Off The Omens
    Toxic Holocaust - Primal Future
The Rods - Brotherhood Of Steel
    Rotting Christ - The Heretis
    Rock! Shock! Pop!

The best thing I heard from 2019 I got for free. It was a flexi-disc of the song 'Abandoned' by Possessed in an issue of Decibel. Seven Churches was awesome but I haven't really thought of Possessed in years; this song is terrific.
