Back Issue had an article about him (real name John Keehan) in #105. He actually was a black belt. He was controversial in martial arts circles because he invented his own system and actually got into a "dojo war" with another group, one of his close friends was supposedly killed. He died in his sleep from complications from a bleeding ulcer.

    He led a crazy life!

When I was in high school we knew nothing about the man. I contributed some Count Dante fan fiction to a zine that a friend of mine was publishing, and just made up a bunch of nonsense about how he was an actual assassin responsible for killing world leaders and stuff.

    It was dumb.

Actually, that sounds kind of cool! Apparently some crazy stories floated around about his death, one was that he was executed by a practitioner of his "Death Touch"!

If I remember, in my piece he was still alive and living on a tropical island with a bunch of hot women.

You'd probably enjoy the entire issue of this, Ian. They are running a sale right now (due to being in pretty dire straights from Covid fallout). Just 5 bucks.
