    Translator question

How much would it cost on average to pay a guy to make an SRT file for a Japanese flick? I've heard all kinds of numbers for subs. Anywhere from 5-10K.

I don't know what traditional rates are, but you could probably get it done pretty cheap if you're willing to do half the work yourself. I once hired someone to translate an Indonesian movie... but instead of asking for a "Film Translation," I recorded the audio to a shorter wav file, and edited it down to just the dialogue I needed translated: no credits, montages, chase scenes with no talking, etc. I just asked him to translate that audio recording, which wound up being under an hour, into a basic text document, which I then formatted into proper subtitles myself.

I found the guy on Fiverr and it only cost $20-25.
