I love coincidences in watching films

Like today, I watched The Hangover Part II, which was mediocre at best. And a few hours later, I watched The Steven Seagal - Kurt Russel trash-classic Executive Decision. And wouldn't you know it, both films use the EXACT same establishing shot of stock footage of a 747 flying towards the camera in mild sunlight.

Moments like this make me appreciate my movie watching nerdery even more.

Does this apply to any of you guys as well?

I geeked out when I noticed Bruno Mattei used the same 'cannibal footage' in Libidomania as he did in Hell of the Living Dead and probably 10 other movies too.

So yeah, this applies to me.

Yeah, but if a director is using the same footage in a few films, it isn't a coincidence as much an extra-incidence.
I like the coincidence that Carpenter had Kurt Russel in The Thing, Big Trouble in Little China, and Elvis. Oh wait...

The Swedes define coincidence differently than you or I do, Paul.

I feel Paul Casey is bullying me. He will need to send me $100 in the mail for me to feel good again.

haha Sorry for the confusion! I was bullying Ian, actually.

    I'm not a good bully, I guess.

I remember back at the end of my VHS days renting Bad Taste and loving it. When there were about fifteen minutes left of the film, at an especially exciting moment, the pictures went fuzzy and the machine made some funny noises and when it came back it seemed like a few minutes had been lost. Maybe the tape had snapped and someone taped it back together. Anyway, I told the guy at the video store this and he told me I could take out another tape for free. I ended up picking Dead Alive, knowing nothing about it. When it started up and the opening screen with Wingnut Productions came on, I was like, huh... why does that sound familiar? It was a weird that I had never seen a Peter Jackson film before and not only had I seen my first that day, but I saw my second as a replacement, completely unintentionally.

That's a good story, and high in coincidence, but it's not Swedish enough. Unless you consider it a coincidence that the Wingnut Productions credit appeared in both movies... I think this one's more of a Kurt Russell.

I thought I understood coincidence. Now? Less so.
