Not as extreme as the D:PoD bd, but still pretty bad. Guess I'll be giving this a pass then.

Shame Animeigo dropped the ball on this one. I should've taken heed about all their talk about spending days reducing noise & realized the writing on the wall. Guess I'll be sticking to my dvd box set & saving a few bucks in the process until perhaps, Eureka manages to release a region B set in the near future.

Thanks for the caps, Ian. I've canceled my pre-order

So the Digital Noise Reduction has wiped out most of the film grain and small detail on this new set? It's hard to notice until I click on your screenshots and view them full size. That's a drag. I was looking forward to this set, especially at the price. I have all of the original dvds.

It's much more obvious on a larger TV or monitor, but yeah, that's exactly what happened.

Thanks for the heads-up Ian. It's not quite bad enough to get me to cancel my pre-order, but its definitely nice to be able to temper my expectations ahead of time.

Just curious but what's your reference setup for these reviews? Are you using an ISF calibrated TV? Just in comparison for example with DVD Beaver, where the reviewer states the equipment used for his reviews.

For the screen caps? They're done straight off of my PC's Blu-ray drive and then turned into reasonably sized jpeg's in Photoshop. No filtering or color tweaking or anything like that.
