I didnt make it to the end of the last run. The show never entirely worked for me. All reviews of it begin with the idea of how transgressive it is to have a serial killer as the lead character of a show. But he's not really a serial killer. Or if he is he's the fluffiest serial killer yet known. Never rapes his victims. Never eats them. Never wears their skin for a week while he masturbates in front of the telly. Instead he's just cute. I don't buy it. Even Bundy wasn't fluffy.

Still I was curious how they pick up a show like this a decade later. The answer is they pick it up exactly where it left off. For good or ill its exactly the show that it was. We're missing the old supporting cast and, in the first episode at least, they have not been replaced with similar quality but that could change as they expand the world. I think if you enjoyed it before there's not much to complain about now.

I watched the entire run of the last show and was annoyed at the ending. Total let down. I'm watching this season because I actually have showtime for once, and it's....acceptable. Basically, what Dom said.

I'll avoid spoilers altogether, but will say that Dexter's ghostly companion was mildly annoying last week, but really ramped up to annoying as fuck this week's episode.

An actor coming back from the dead to play themselves as a memory that interacts with the main character has to be in my top 5 of television cliches. Those scenes are always horrible.

And, it dominates a HUGE chunk of what's been onscreen so far.

Watched the first episode last night and.... meh. I'll give the next one a shot. Didn't blow me away, wasn't as bad as it could have been.

    I miss Harry though.

AMEN. They did that in another Michael C. Hall show, too: SIX FEET UNDER.
