    You were lucky. In the Uk you can pay £300 for a multiregional and even then its a gamble. Even a reconditioned one that is modified is around £150. I haven't the confidence nor expertise to buy the chip that you have to fit yourself and that sounds like an even bigger gamble to me. The annoying thing is that there seem to be more contracts signed now where the licensers expect the products to be locked. I understand if they have expectations that other countries will have their own domestic releases, but in often many cases with cult films you see one release in one country and that's it. With Franco then I know there is only a very small market,. If there was a bigger market then Redemption Uk would be releasing bds for the Uk market too. A lot of titles will never see the light of day in UK and even if they do they will be cut by the bbfc. So we get on one side we have to contend with non English friendly releases (but thank god for ascot-elite) and on the other, region locked American releases. I just hope that Severin don't follow suit. I mean Hot nights of Linda is amazing for it to be region free, but there is nothing to stop them from releasing further titles that are locked.

    Some of the cheaper players can be 'hacked' quite easily, Lalala. Asda had a cheap, rebranded Asian model on sale a while back (£50, IIRC) that could be hacked - possibly the same machine Jimmy bought at Walmart in the US. There's also a reasonably priced Toshiba, the BDX1200, that can be made region free if you load it with the right firmware. I bought mine for £90 a couple of years ago.

    I had the Toshiba BDX1200 there is a problem with this player which leads to jerky movement on some discs, I used to own one, this problem has been fixed on later models. Please note the region free hack doesn't work on all Toshiba models, most notably some of the newer ones, the ones that do include BDX3200KB which also has 3D playback, I currently own this player and can recommend it, also the BDX3300KB does the same [though I don't think it's 3D? but it's cheap !];

    You modify it by downloading the Rapidshare link included on this page;
    http://www.avforums.com/forums/blu-r...gion-bd-5.html
    Use IMG BURN to burn the ISO to a CDR or DVDR;
    Procedure for changing regions (after installing the regionfree firmware)
    1. Press "Setup" on the remote to enter Setup Menu.
    2. Using the remote, enter 8,5,2,0". A new submenu will appear.
    3. Set DVD region code to "0" for DVD Multi Region.
    4. Set BD region code as required using the remote buttons.
    "1" = Region A, "2" = Region B, "4" = Region C
    6. Press "Setup" button to exit the menu.

    DVD regions are set but you will need to change the Blu Ray regions manually.

    Toshiba players are prone to malfunction and break down. I never buy Toshiba.

    Ok guys. I appreciate the links to multiregional players and advice. Its not something on the agenda for me at the moment and if it was then I would need a UK vendor. Lets stick to the script and remember its a Jess franco BD thread. thankyou.

    Got an email from Diabolik this morning, they're taking pre-orders for HOT NIGHTS OF LINDA, among other things like CORRUPTION.

    They certainly did. I've pre-ordered Hot Nights of Linda 2 or 3 weeks ago from them and I did the same with Corruption this week when I heard it was available.

    I've it pre-ordered with A Virgin Among the Living Dead, Nightmares Come at Night, Hot Nights of Linda and House on Straw Hill. His films are among the few I can appreciate watching in my own language (in fact I prefer them in french), can't wait for september to watch them. I know most of them will be release next month, but I will be at my mother home for all august and I will certainly not watch those movies with her...
