An immensely popular British crime film, The Blue Lamp was scripted by ex-policeman T.E.B. Clarke (The Lavender Hill Mob) and directed by the great Basil Dearden (Dead of Night).
Rock! Shock! Pop!
This is a cracking crime film, I recorded it off TCM years ago and revisit it regularly. Low key and superbly acted (particularly by Bogarde in an early role). Basil Dearden was consistently great but this might be my favorite film of his.
I don't go to church. Kneeling bags my nylons.
