IVL is releasing both OILY MANIAC and MIGHTY PEKING MAN region free on blu ray and is up for pre-order now for an October 15 release date.

More exciting for me is the pending blu ray release (10/30) from CN Entertainment HK of Chang Cheh's SHANGHAI 13. I have this on R2 PAL Terracotta dvd but will upgrade.

I wouldn't mind HUMAN LANTERNS since the German release wasn't English friendly. My pipe dream is THE AVENGING EAGLE. It's a travesty that this isn't out on English subbed Blu already. But the whole Dragon Dynasty fiasco with this title....which reminds me, why doesn't Weinstein do the honorable thing and just off himself like his buddy Epstein and save the taxpayers..

Sad news to report. Former Shaw Brothers actor, Chan Sing has passed away at age 82. He was a prolific actor (credited with over 120+ film appearances) and also was an action director and producer for BLACK PANTHER. Apparently, he left HK for good before the handover in 1997 and lived the rest of his life quietly in Canada. I'll always remember him for his early SBs villain roles but also the stoic tough guy protagonist roles he did for the indies later in his career & of course, the Brucesploitation stuff. With his rugged mustachioed looks, stout muscular physique and Karate background - he really did look look like someone you wouldn't want to fuck with IRL. RIP Chan Sing!

Addendum to the post about Chan Sing's passing. Terrence Brady, the author of the ALEXANDER FU SHENG: THE BIOGRAPHY OF THE CHINATOWN KID has revealed further information about the difficult last years of his life. Sad for any parent to have a child pass on before them but at least he passed away peacefully in his sleep.

A German box set is coming out in Feb which will feature 5 Koch Media SBs titles (THE ANGRY GUEST, THE KID WITH THE GOLDEN ARM, FOUR RIDERS, THE NEW SHAOLIN BOXERS & THE MASTER OF KUNG FU). All of these have already been released individually and all are English friendly. Depending the price, it might be worth it over buying the individual releases.
