I have now returned from the Cinema. I fucking liked this one. After having been a bit dissapointed in Stallones Bullet to the Head and Arnies Last Stand I did not have super high hopes here. But this film worked damn well. Stallone was back to playing a more ordinary man, with tatoos covered up, and Arnie was a terrific Sidekick. Not a particularly smart plot but damn fine craftsmanship. Solid unspectacular filmmaking. Solid villain. Solid Sly and Arnie, and solid Vinnie Jones and Sam Neill in minor roles.

Best "modern" Stallone besides the Expendables. (And dare I say a much better "film" then Expendables 1 and 2 even if I enjoy them on a WTF level)

    Nice thoughts Swede....

I totally agree with being disappointed with LAST STAND and BULLET..mediocre movies at their best.....Nice to see they went back to basics and did it simple but well with this one ....and you have now convinced me to put my hopes back into seeing this one..

Good on ya! Was it Vinnie Jones that did the trick? :D

You know what...it probably WAS Vinnie Jones that tipped the scales for this one into "Watch it" territory!

It was more that we agreed that the other two movies mentioned were pretty bad...and then you raved about this one ...so it vcearly shows we have a mutual interest in seeing these guys on the top of their form...and giving us what we KNOW they are capable of doing!

Escape Plan 2 is happening, it'll be a Chinese co-production according to The Hollywood Reporter.

"Stallone has signed on to reprise his role as a prison security specialist, but Schwarzenegger's return is still under discussion, a Leomus representative said. Miles Chapman, screenwriter on the first film, is back to script the sequel."

I thought this flopped? I was also under the impression that Stallone quietly retired since he's 70 now.

The speed in which these Emmet/Furla DTV Movies are made does not exactly inspire high hopes. (I still see em all though, even if maybe only 1 in 10 is actually watchable)

Caught this last weekend. I liked it. Not a bad little time waster with two of my favorite Action heroes. I love the novelty of two heavyweights in one film. It's a shame we didn't get something with these two together 20 years ago.
