Does anyone actually know whether Synapse have Opera scheduled for blu or not? Lots of people are dismissing Don May Jrs denial that they have it, as some kind of double bluff

    WTF? Who does that?

I've never really known Don May to be anything but straightforward. I only really know him through forums and such, but I think if he had it and couldn't talk about it, he'd say, "I can't really talk about that right now".

I wonder what audio options this will have.

I was thinking more along the lines of whether this will contain the Italian audio, the Cannes dub or the alternate English dub

That's what I'm guessing too Would love for this to include all three of the major audio tracks recorded for this title. ('Proper' English subs for the Italian track, as compared with the transcription of the English dialogue on the Arrow DVD, would be a dream come true, but I guess that'd be too much to hope for .)

So then folks, I'm hearing that the Japanese blu has pretty good PQ, has Italian and English lang but the English dub is mono, with a very noticeable hiss that gets more prominent around the 65 minute mark. No subs other than Japanese and no extras except the trailer for the release. I was really tempted with this and the screen grab I have seen looks good, but now that audio thing sounds piss poor.

    Screencaps posted here

A poster on Horror DVDs posted some screen caps from the Japanese disc.

"The English track is in DTS-HD stereo, but not sure if it's actually Dolby Stereo or just dual mono. Also has Italian DTS-HD stereo track, but only Jap subs, no English subs."

"Video quality is a bit better than my old Anchor Bay limited edition DVD, but I feel there's still some room for improvement, although to be fair it may take better source materials for that.

Audio quality is quite disappointing. Turns out the English stereo DTS-HD tracks were just dual mono and there's a lot of high end noise/hiss through most of the movie.

Overall, far from a definitive version so I'd hope to be upgrading this one at some point."
