So I noticed that Criterion's art director was reaching out to some comic artists for a project and I'm 100% certain it is for a box set of their Godzilla titles (I'm assuming it'll be similar to their Zatoichi set with each artist drawing a scene from a different movie for the book[let].)

Definitely good news. I guess Starz tipped us off more than two years ago. Better late than never.

I have no idea how accurate this is, but rumor is they were waiting for Kraken's rights to Ebirah: Horror of the Deep, Godzilla vs. Gigan, and Godzilla vs. Hedorah to expire.

Looks like Janus/Criterion did get those last three Showa titles, as Secret Movie Club's upcoming screenings of GODZILLA VS GIGAN and GODZILLA VS HEDORAH are credited to Janus Films (I don't see a screening of Ebirah, but it is safe to assume that it too is now with Janus/Criterion.)

Excellent news. Hopefully the rumblings of a mammoth boxed set turn out to be true.

Someone on twitter said they asked Steve Ryfle and Ed Godziszewski about Criterion's plans and they said "they should announce something next week""

So, Monday, since it is the 15th, seems likely.

That's a fantastic price if true but now I'm worried that they're gonna cram 3 movies onto one disc and have a 5 disc set.

Hope they got the UK rights too. Apart from King Kong vs. Godzilla, I don't think any of them (apart from the shitty US ones) are on Blu over here. On the subject of that one, I hope they include it (isn't it Universal?), and in the original cut.
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

I think the Target price is like 25% off the MSRP, so $200 is the likely MSRP. Shame it wasn't posted yesterday as they were having a sale and movies were an extra 20% off.
