I've been storing my copy of the Godzilla set vertically, on the bookshelf, and the last time I pulled it out to watch one of the movies, I discovered that some of the discs had slipped through the slots in the cardboard which are supposed to hold them and disappeared; when I eventually managed to extract them, they had big smears of dried glue from the packaging all over the data side, requiring an emergency cleaning job before they could be played. They're now all safely stored in an old CD wallet instead.

A real shame, because on an aesthetic design & visual impact level, the thing is seriously f-ing cool.
The Alfred Hitchcock set was like that, as well. Infuriating, considering the cost.

That is a reason that, even though Blu-rays have the scratch protection, I still hate packaging that stores discs in slots. On the positive side, Criterion is good about exchanging damaged discs (well, were good at it before the current COVID outbreak has forced them to have their staff work from home.)

That sounds like a repackage of the same set that they keep putting out. I think three or four of the films have English dubs, the rest have no English options if it is the same.

I've just watched All Monsters Attack for the first time. What a wretched 69 minutes that was. Take away the recycled footage and it's probably only about 45 minutes long.
I'm bitter, I'm twisted, James Joyce is fucking my sister.

I've always imagined the folks who created Barney the Dinosaur saw this Minya, since (to me) they look and sound alike, especially when the latter utters things like, "Er, Godzilla tells me I have to fight my own battles!"
    VHS will never die!

I guess I shouldn't complain, I first found out about Godzilla from that dire cartoon series in the late 70s. Fucking Godzooky...
