While I am not the biggest Gwar fan, this news sucks if it is true...I am not totally sure if this is one hundred percent confirmed yet...I really hope this is not true.

Holy shit. Terrible. 50 is far too young to be gone.

No official statement from the band confirming it yet but something is supposedly scheduled for 5pm today.

This has made it to some pretty official news sources though.

TMZ, who I'm not including as particularly legit, are at least reporting that it doesn't appear to have been a suicide or an OD.

And it's been confirmed on Twitter by the police.

Spin is also reporting on it now.

I'm not a Gwar fan, but I give them the respect they deserve for being around for so long and doing something really unique. I admired them for their act. This is sad, a real loss to creative music. A shock. I'm really tired of people dying.

They crashed a Fango con in Chicago a long time ago, early 90's I think, and boy...they smelled baaaaaad...

I probably saw them a good 8+ times since around '94. Musically, nothing ever topped Scumdogs and America Must Be Destroyed, but the shows were always fun. Last time I saw them, maybe 5 years ago, during some stage banter between songs, Dave was joking with Flattus. I forgot why, but basically he said "Go ahead, quit. I'll just get another Flattus. I've already gone through like 4 of them already." It was all in fun, but it was pretty much true. At that point, just about any member could be replaced or filled-in for.

Not Oderus. Dave was Gwar and no one can fill those shoes.

    RIP
