They're both definitely really entertaining action movies, if just a bit predictable.

Love that bit in Flashpoint though where he snipes that guy in mid air.

I like the dude that he punches to death in the shops. You should do that to someone.

Watching Kill Zone... yep... this is definitely the one.

    The bottle scene is awesomeness.

He's pretty damn cool for an old, overweight dude. Has he been acting since he was young? Was he always big?

Who, Sammo? Yeah, he was always "Fatty." Trained with Jackie Chan and Yien Baio and made some great stuff with them and on his own.
It's not going to suck itself...

I fixed the teensy misspelling, but that's to be expected of me and Hong Kong-related stuff...

Yeah, Sammo Hung, here seen at his leanest in the absolutely awesome Eastern Condors...

...was always a little overweight. Not so much in his earlier films (and he slimmed down for the above role, as it was one his most demanding), but moreso late in his career. The guy's nearly sixty now (Jan. 7th is his b'day, so send him a card for his sixtieth next year)!

About his weight: he once stated in an interview that, when asked if his weight was ever a hindrance to his onscreen martial arts performances, he "never really thought about it" -- he just does what he has to as he had the training all his life from Opera school.

Admittedly, his weight has been a bit of a hindrance to him in recent years as well as affected his health. He was quite extensively doubled in Fatal Move, for a lot of the rougher parts of his fight with Wu Jing, so he's obviously not as spritely or wiry as he used to be. I'll look into Ip Man 2 soon (after the first one), as I'm almost certain he was doubled in that as well.

Ah, Biao makes a lot more sense.

A lot thinner there, the same intense eyes though.

I've got an interesting (as in, you're not going to like it) review coming up next week on the site of an older Donnie Yen title no-one ever paid much attention to. The film is rom-com Love on the Rocks and Donnie stars as the main guy's (Louis Koo) love rival with his gf. Donnie plays the swarthy romantic type, and it's a comedy part -- though he does do a few of his signature moves, for laughs, when Louis eventually confronts hilm.

Koo and Yen also star opposite each other, as cosmetic gurus (yes, kung fu sensibilities applied to the application of women's makeup) in All's Well Ends Well 2011...which I've just ordered on Blu-ray from Hong Kong.
