I think that I've just come to expect a lot of CGI in everything, so it's stopped bothering me as much...but still a bit of a distraction.

The stupid humour in the first part...like him remembering when the passages may have been read...really appealed to me. I think that I'm at the point where I just want entertainment out of TV...for now, anyway. There are a bazillion serious-ass shows on, and most of them are depressing as shit. This one made me laugh...a lot.

I just wanted the humor and the horror to balance out. The first half didn't do that, it was almost pure comedy. The last half did do it, so it made me happy.

I agree with Mark in that all I really want is to be entertained...and this pilot episode really did that...However, was a bit suprised with the scene in the bar restroom..seemed a bit out of character for Ash..but the rest was a nice return to the series...

My only worry now is that the rest of the series will not be directed by Raimi and I doubt anyone else can do the energy and style needed for this to remain in Evil Dead mode..

Btw..the pilot was around 40 mins...are the rest of the episodes only 30?...The 40 mins flew by and thought that was a good length for an episode...

I gather that this is something that Starz does, almost instantly give their shows a second season to get a little extra buzz for the first. It also kind of makes sense economically, as a second season is cheaper than starting a new series. The real test is if the show gets a third season.

Let's not jump ahead of ourselves here..Just wait and see if they can keep up the tone and energy for the first season....
