I remember watching things like Jess Franco's DEMONS, the Black Emmanuelle movies and SUSPIRIA as an early teenager before I knew they were even from Europe, I just knew they were different. I've been sporadically dipping my toes in here and there ever since but it's really been the last couple years where I've had a laser focus on watching all of it. I still have a loooong way to go but it's been fun connecting the dots. I saw ALMOST HUMAN via the NoShame disc years ago when it dropped but beside the few Italian crime films put out by Blue Underground I haven't seen any other films in the genre. Now I'm starting to make my way through the discs put out by Raro Video. I'm also still DVD only so that limits some of my options. You all can throw tomatoes at me!
Almost Human is quite possibly, my favorite Milian performance. A great film, I'm currently tracking down a bunch of his Giraldi series on DVR. I always find him entertaining.

It's a toss-up between that and Four of the Apocalypse for me.

That may have been the first thing I saw him in. He was supremely impressive in that film and soon after so many spaghetti westerns and other cult films were coming out from Blue Underground and other companies that I finally discovered this very talented actor. I have to throw Companeros into the running for my favorite as well; I just love that film.

Two free-spirited teenagers, Dick and Ingrid (played by Ray Lovelock and Ornella Muti), set out to spend the summer together in Italy. To pay their way they sell Scandinavian porn mags and pictures of Ingrid posing nude. But then they get busted by the cops and are given 24 hours to get out of the country.

Instead of leaving they take to the road, where they come up against a thieving biker gang and they are mistaken for a pair of bank robbers. Heading south in a hurry, they run out of gas in the middle of nowhere and take refuge in the house of Barbara Slater (Irene Papas), a seemingly bored, middle-aged housewife who appears to be up for some sexual shenanigans. The naive pair party with Barbara but soon discover she is hiding a terrible and deadly secret.

Directed by the legendary Umberto Lenzi of CANNIBAL FEROX fame, this sexy thriller in the Italian “giallo” style is a taut and suspense-filled entertainment with a deviously twisted plot and all the trappings of the “hippie” 1970s, Euro-style.
