Rad stuff. I'm a little more straightforward. I really dug "The Texan" and "Horse."

Thanks everybody! I appreciate the feedback. It's always interesting to find out which ones people like, because they're all little experiments to me.

This makes me think of The Bangles' Walk Like An Egyptian for some reason.

haha. It's like some kind of Bart Simpson opium dream. I did that one really quickly with no sketches or planning, just up from my subconscious- boom. I intend to touch it up some more, though.

Is that a caterpiller monster in the top right?

If you see a caterpiller monster, then okay...it is a caterpiller monster.

Obviously, the face represents the proletariat, always forced to look at diamonds awash in blood, yet also caged and cut off from the wealth that they might provide. The face is seperated from the paw, essentially neutering any use of force to gain power.

I was just kidding.

It's really just colors and shapes and stuff.

Here's a new one, "redistrict"

...er, and with title like that you can rest assured that it is not a politically themed abstract. :)

This one's great. It's like a Mondrian that I actually like!

You have some really beautiful art. Interesting, offbeat style and striking use of colors. Keep up the great work. Nice to see a fellow artist on this forum:).

Really nice stuff there, Paul. "Redistrict" is speaking to me the most.

Paul, as a fellow artist, I really like your work. The color is amazing. Have you ever exhibited your art anywhere?

No shows or public displays yet (besides many band flyers I made over the years, but this is different). I'm only just now feeling confident in having enough work to actually show and that I'm satisfied with. It's difficult for me to feel that a piece is complete. It's part of the process, but I have trouble with that step. I keep starting new pieces and coming back to finish others later. So, from this year I've got about 60 pieces and about 9 or 10 that I feel are "complete". I'm slowly improving my process.

Anyway soon, I hope. I need a manager and/or an agent. I have finally admitted to myself that I hate doing that part.

For some reason (actually there doesn't need to be a reason I guesS) the way that hte purple lines arch reminds me of crooked fingers.

The green and white box line things remind me of worms, which is kind of cool.

So did you actually paint each strip individually there or did you do some sort of masking?

It's a neat effect either way.

paul h.
12-13-2013, 01:27 PM
Masking tape. Masked off parallel lines (sort of) on blank canvas, painted layer 1. Removed tape, then masked off the first painted layer and painted layer 2. Removed tape and touched up and filled in gaps. I did a few paintings in this series using the same technique.
