LEAVES OF GRASS. Tim Blake Nelson's hydroponic remake of STRANGE BREW ain't Hamlet, but Edward Norton is pretty great as both Bob and Doug. Steve Earle gets to kick ass; also good gutting of a catfish and Duddy Kravitz cameo. Funny, then things go all to hell, but that's tragedy for you. B+ 8/10.

The Pyx - slow and overly long but interesting story about Karen Black as a drug addicted hooker who gets killed under some bizarre circumstances involving some wacky supernatural stuff. Nice footage of Montreal in the 70s, Christopher Plummer plays the cop.

Tempting Roommates - had nothing to do with roommates at all but it was funny enough to watch this Dietrich produced Eurosex comedy.

When A Stranger Calls Back - It's not nice to make fun of the way Karen Kane talks. This isn't a bad sequel though, maybe not a classic or anything but a decent thriller.

Been curious about this one; funny you use the Hamlet reference, tho', as someone had to point out to me that Bob & Doug are Rosecrantz and Guildenstern and the rest of the movie does play out like Hamlet...weird.
It's not going to suck itself...

It's not as great as STRANGE BREW. It's self-consciously a classical tragedy (total elapsed time to Aristotle 'bout 0 seconds), and that kind of lames it in one foot for plain modern enjoyments, but the reversals make for a ride. I didn't much like Keri Russell, either. But then Ed sang Townes Van Zandt as a dithyramb, and I was onboard again.
