This is great. I hope more public performance places are able to follow suit while we work to try and get things back to whatever normal is these days.

Update: Repeat Showing, June 28, 2021

Gone into Met therapy over the last 7 weeks or so. Watching 3-4 operas a week. Be warned though, many operas may be too twisted and violent for some of the RSP Kids here.

I enjoyed the Marnie opera, certainly more than I cared for the movie. Based on the same book.

A couple of nights ago, watched the Met's 2013 production of Rigoletto set in 1960 Las Vegas. Very well sung, I enjoyed it.

A few in the audience booed the semi nude dancer at the beginning of Act III, (alas not in the above clip), but they were drowned out by an impromptu smattering of covering applause.
She didn't bother me at all.

In case the cost of spaceflight drops dramatically, I'm saving up so I can catch a performance of this on the moon.

This is a 2015 stage production of Donizetti's Lucia Di Lammermoor directed by Dario Argento. He appears at the end to take a bow.

While it does have a naked lady ghost, it does not have English subs. I did not find it an impressive production. Desiree Rancatore, a fine singer, who has had good success with Lucia over the years in a number of productions, I read, may have had the flu during this performance. The stage design is not bad, but the broadcast coverage is standard at best, sub-standard really. Stay Safe Kids.

Silent due to copyright but a short video with clips from a 2005 production of Samson and Dalila directed by William Friedkin.

This Sunday, May 9th, Mother's Day 2021, the Met's production of Handel's Agrippina. Baroque Hi-jinks in Ancient Rome. Highly recommended. You do not have to be an opera lover to enjoy this.

Here's Nero, a well adjusted or maladjusted lad (?)
