    REIKO IKE

Rewatched Sex and Fury last night after many years and pretty much forgetting what it was about but remembering that I dug it. I think this was one of the first pinky violence flicks that I watched and it's definitely held up in my impressions. Reiko Ike is a complete badass in this film (as she is in everything I've seen her in) and I wonder why her film career was so short- only acting bewteen the ages of eighteen and twenty-six. Seems she could have gone on forever though it's kind of awesome when someone stays in our mind young and super cool. She probably married some dumbass who wouldn't let her act anymore. It's kind of neat that she had troubles with the law for a lot of the things that go on in the movies she's in and probably the reason she's so believable. I just wish her tattoos were real.

So yeah, Sex and Fury is pretty great. I'm curious about the significance of the cards. I get the significance to Ike's character but why did her dad have them in the first place? They must have meant something as the three people she went after had those tattoos. Sometimes I feel like I miss some meaning in films that I really want to get.

TGHS: Lynch Law Classroom is also pretty rad but honestly, I prefer Miki Sugimoto in that one.

I need to watch more of Ike's films.

Same here. I need to watch more. She's so gorgeous. So far I think Delinquent Girl Boss is my favorite, but I've only watched a few. Is she still alive?

I'm guessing she should be, as she was only born in '53, but one never knows. Here's her wiki entry, and check out that quote from R!S!P!'s own Ian Jane!

PS: The cards, from memory, were standard playing cards (much like poker cards, I guess). You see similar decks in Korean films as well.

PPS: Is the below what you were looking for, Alison? Or was it different images from that sequence? (Still had the file on my PC)

I figured, but why would the three people she had to kill have the tattoos on their backs? Seems there was more of a reason for her dad to have them...

Did it also have something to do with animals on the cards signifying the people she was after? I forget! I'll watch it again after I've finished my reviews for Screem.

I can never remember which is which of Sex & Fury and the sequel. I wasn't a massive fan of either but I remember they had 1 great scene each. One of them begins with an awesome naked parasol fight and the other ends with a mass fight in a bar that had to have been an influence on Kill Bill. Her music is cool too though it can be embarrasing when the iPods on random and it comes up on the stereo in mixed company. My gal used to do a stage act where she mimed an orgasm to one of those tracks.
