Mustaine does make himself pretty easy to hate these days. I don't think I've heard the Ving version.

It's worth tracking down and still pretty easy to find.

The original Ving-tastic version is the Slab Records release, right?

Yes, the Slab version is the one you want. Ving's name does not appear anywhere on the outside cover art unless you get a new copy where I think there was a sticker.

Oh, and the Mustaine-only version has more tracks since he tossed in some instrumentals and demo versions which are also Ving free.

Cool, thanks for the clarification. Used copies are cheap. I'll get one.

So the track listing for Dave Grohl's Sound City documentary has been released and of interest to this thread is track 5:

Alain Johannes, Dave Grohl, Lee Ving, Pat Smear, and Taylor Hawkins: "Your Wife Is Calling"

At least they didn't let Paul McCartney get in on that.

"Ving revisited the song while putting together a re-release package to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Fear’s album More Beer. “I didn’t know what the rights were to the song or who had the two-inch tape,” he says. “It turns out my business partner is friends with [John Belushi’s widow] Judy Pisano, so he contacted her—she’s a sweetheart—and she had the two-inch.”

In addition to a Halloween digital release, there will also be a special seven-inch copy of “Neighbors” with both Ving and Belushi’s takes available in November. "

So a 30th anniversary edition of MORE BEER and the Belushi recordings?

I'm really happy all of this is coming out, but unfortunately for us Canucks, ordering from their merchandising site costs a bloody fortune.
