Ok, so having now read Rorschach #1, which is pretty decent, I get the Ditko comparison thing.

Even more so with issue 2. Anyone else reading this? It's pretty neat and this 2nd issue definitely ties in the whole Rorschach/The Question thing in an interesting way.

So, not Before Watchmen but adjacent at least. The other day I finished Doomsday Clock. I had been pulling them out of the $1 bin at the LCS and came up short 3 issues that I paid $4 each for, so a pretty cheap way to get the set. Mixed feelings about it. Anyone else read it? I felt that it started pretty strong but turned into a bit of a superhero mish-mash as it drew to its close. I did like the art art and some of the visual nods towards the original but the story, while I didn't hate it, failed to hit me the way Moore's original did (which isn't really surprising).

Just curious if anyone else checked it out and what they thought?

It accomplished what it needed to accomplish I guess, melding stuff with the DCU. I'm just not sure it needed to accomplish that in the first place.

I've read the first half of Doomsday Clock and enjoyed what I read. Need to finish it.

I consider all this Watchmen apocrypha in the same way I view all the bad Disney and Universal direct-to-video cheapass sequels.

I have the original, I love the original, and I have no interest in cash grabs that don’t involve the creators who made the original what it was.

Yeah, but the siren song of the $1 is hard to resist and once I had 10/12, I had to complete it. And I'll stand by Tom King's Rorschach series (at least the first three issues that are out so far), I've been enjoying it so far.

Fair enough on completing the run for cheap, and if you’re enjoying Rorschach, that’s what matters.
