Shameless Releasing The House With The Laughing Windows

Given that the US release is out of print and hard to find, thought this might be interest to some.

“..today I painted that shameless bitch as she snuffed it..”

Often mentioned yet rarely seen, director Pupi Avati’s legendary cult horror masterpiece finally gets the release it deserves: restored and remastered under the director’s supervision, it is presented with new audio, new improved subtitles plus a new exclusive interview with Avati - making this the definitive release of this intelligent shocker.

Stefano, a young artist, arrives in a tranquil Italian village to restore the local church's fresco of the St. Sebastian martyr - depicting the saint’s bloody body slashed by arrows - painted some years earlier by a deranged local artist who, the villagers hint, created snuff paintings by torturing his models who were in the throes of dying when he painted them!

Gradually Stefano discovers the rumours about the painter might be true, as the village's gruesome and taboo secret unravels into a seething web of madness, gory deaths and unspeakable horror culminating in a final diabolical twist and jaw-dropping conclusion.

    Special Features:
-New visuals & New audio (Original Mono & Dolby 5.1.)
-Restored under the supervision of the director
    -New improved sub-titles
    -New exclusive Pupi Avati interview
    -Theatrical Trailer

Wasn't there already a good UK disc? Am I mistaken? Regardless, I didn't like it much at all.

One of my favourite films, but I already own three DVD copies of this (and an old VHS dupe somewhere).

The DVD release previously out in the UK was from an unrestored print, IIRC, which in its presentation contained some interesting, subtle differences with the Avati-supervised restored version released on DVD in Italy and, later, the US. Tbh, that old UK disc is my 'go to' version when I want to watch this film, as I prefer its more muted transfer. I'd love to support Shameless, but unless this disc is in some way revelatory I'll probably skip it.

I love this film. Great eerie atmosphere and what a twisted ending! I didn't see it coming at all!

I should watch this one again. I've heard so many people praise it, but it left me cold when I saw it...

I have the good UK disc as well as the old Image so I won't buy again either til blu.

Love love love the film though. I wish the old Image disc hadn't had that Avati interview in a way, he explains the ending in way that totally diminishes the disturbing shot of an arm resting on a tree outside, which implies the police are in on the conspiracy.
